Once only donned by the rich and affluent, diamonds have finally come to a stage in the world where they are now worn by all classes in society. Even though, large flawless diamonds are only owned by the crème de la crème of any society, high quality diamonds are now sold at retail outlets, ranging from the reasonably priced to the premium.

The price of any diamond jewellery depends mainly on the size of the stone, the clarity, the cut, and its colour. Clarity is the basic measure of imperfections and inclusions in the gem. The flawless aspect of a diamond has much to do with the clarity and colour of the particular stone. Only a perfectly colourless diamond that marks the best grade in clarity can be labelled flawless. It is very rare for a stone to be termed Flawless or Internally Flawless, as such stones are cut to perfection and they are also of colossal value.

Some prominent flawless diamonds from around the world are The Paragon, which is the largest flawless diamond in the world weighing 137.82 carats. The Paragon also has the prestige of being the 10th largest white diamond ever discovered; The Archduke Joseph Diamond that weighs 76.45 carats; The 273.85 carats heart shaped Centenary Diamond; The Cross of Asia, a radiant-cut 79.12 carats fancy yellow diamond; The 203.04 carats flawless pear shaped Millenium Star; The Incomparable Diamond, which is a gem of 407.48 carats and weighs 81.496 grams; and Star of the Season, a 100.10 carat pear shaped diamond. These diamonds are celebrated for their fire and brilliance as much as their sheer size and worth.

A diamond is considered flawless only if it possesses no scratches, crystals, mineral, or bubbles in and on the stone. Some imperfections can be due to cutting or polishing of the gem as well. In such cases the stones can be re-cut or polished to remove the flaws. Even slightly flawed diamonds can end up costing a lot less as compared to the Internally Flawless, and even though the inclusions and blemishes are not visible to the naked eye, they do affect the lustre and fire it holds to a certain degree.

Since buying the perfect diamond is such a subjective matter. There are ranges of cuts, colour grades, clarity grades, and carats available in the market. Having said this, there still is a huge segment of the elite who want to distinguish themselves from the crowd by flaunting large flawless diamonds.
